  • Downstate was awarded a $558,000 Shared Instrumentation Grant (S10) from NIH to develop a modern on-site high performance computing (HPC) facility, with Dr. Scott Bunnell from Scientific Computing as PI, submitted with administrative support from the Office of the SVPR. High end compute nodes (GPU node) will be installed and connected by a fast network along with increased storage capacity. The HPC facility will support the requirements of cutting-edge large-scale computational genomics, neurobiology, biomedical engineering and psychiatry, among others, currently underway at SUNY Downstate. This system will return a contemporary level of high-performance computing to SUNY Downstate after over a decade of absence of a consolidated shared research-computing resource, and will directly elevate the quality of research throughout SUNY Downstate by supporting current projects and enabling the initiation of novel studies.
