New members appointed to Research Advisory Council and Committees
An essential component to expanding the research portfolio at Downstate is to ensure continuous exchange of ideas between Downstate’s leadership and a representative cross-section of faculty engaged in research. President Riley and  Dr. Christini established a research advisory structure in October 2020, comprised of an overarching Research Advisory Council (RAC) and two focussed Research Committees: Human (HRAC) and Laboratory (LRAC), described in the very first issue of Research Pulse (see here). To ensure that RAC, HRAC and LRAC represent perspectives of a wide range of the Downstate community, a rotating membership model of 3-year terms was adopted. Terms overlap to ensure longitudinal consistency (~1/3 of terms end each year).
We want to extend sincere appreciation to the members whose terms ended in served June 2022 for their service. Your contributions and ideas have been vital for improving and developing Downstate programs and initiatives.  Welcome to the new members and we look forward to engaging with you in this very important discussion.
For names of new and past members, please visit the Councils and Committees section under the SVPR page on the Downstate Research website.

2022 Seed Grant Program Awardees
In it's second year, the seed grant program aims to make targeted investments in projects deemed to be competitive for federal extramural research support and advance the research enterprise. Applications were solicited for Track 1 (focused on health equity or health disparities from individuals or teams of faculty investigators), Track 2 (projects with a focus on digital health) or Track 3 (any research area from teams of faculty who have not received funding together in the last 4 years). This year, we received 11 applications, which were reviewed by a committee of 5 faculty from Downstate and 6 from other SUNY campuses.
Listed below are the 2022 Seed Grant Program awardees. Congratulations to all!
